Asus routers are very good, the problem is in their firmware, there are many bugs in Asus Router firmwares. But once you get them working you will not have problems. About your problem; try to completely reset your router, update to the latest firmware and disable all the features which you don’t use. I'm not saying you need such an expensive router.
